Since I was 7 years old

I select the San Jacobo because it is my favourite food in my old school canteen since I was 7 years old.

Alejandro Alonso Echeverría, 3º ESO

San Jacobo Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8 big slices of ham (like for sandwiches)
  • 8 slices of cheese (like Cheddar or Gruyere, or any that melts good)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 spoons of flour
  • breadcrumbs
  • oil for frying

Elaboration

  1. Take 3 big bowls: one with flour, one with eggs you have to beat, and one with breadcrumbs. Make sure it´s enough for the san jacobos.
    1. Put a slice of ham on a plate. Cover the ham with two slices of cheese and cover with another slice of ham.
    1. Put the San Jacobo in the flour, make sure are covered, especially the edges.
    1. Then, put the San Jacobo in the beaten egg and then roll it with breadcrumbs. Be careful with the edges
    1. Do the same for all the san jacobos.
    1. Heat lots of oil in a pan. If you got a cooking thermometer, it should be 170-175°C.
    1. Fry the san jacobos on medium heat. They be ready in a few minutes, just wait untill is golden on both sides.
    1. Put them on paper to take off extra oil.
